Pakistan security and intelligence leadership appointments

Overview

Pakistan has undergone a series of high-level leadership appointments across its law enforcement, cybercrime, and intelligence sectors.

In mid-September, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, the former Inspector General of Islamabad Police, was appointed Director General of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA). Captain (Retd.) Sohail Chaudhry was named the new Islamabad Police chief to succeed Rizvi. This transition coincides with efforts to expand the NCCIA’s manpower and implement AI-enabled surveillance systems.

By late September, further major shifts occurred within the country’s security and counter-terrorism apparatus. Major General Faisal Nasir was appointed National Coordinator of the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA). Concurrently, several appointments were made within the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Military Intelligence, including the naming of Major General Muhammad Shamraiz Khan Tanoli as Director General of the Special Operations Directorate and Major General Adil Warraich as head of Military Intelligence.
