Pakistan clinches T20I series against Sri Lanka

Overview

Pakistan has secured an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka following an 82-run victory in the second match at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

In the second encounter, Pakistan posted a total of 215/3, which is noted as their highest-ever home T20I total. The innings was driven by Maaz Sadaqat, who scored 96 runs from 51 deliveries, and captain Sahibzada Farhan, who contributed 73 runs off 44 balls. The pair capitalized on several dropped catches by the Sri Lankan fielding unit to build a decisive partnership.

Sri Lanka struggled in their response, managing only 133/7. Mohammad Imran was the standout bowler, taking 3-11 in four overs. Sri Lanka’s efforts were led by Maheesh Theekshana with 32 not out and Chamindu Wickramasinghe with 29. This defeat marks Sri Lanka’s sixth consecutive loss in bilateral T20 internationals, following recent losses to the West Indies and England.

This victory marks Pakistan's fifth consecutive T20I series win at home and their first against Sri Lanka in nine years. This follows Pakistan’s four-wicket win in the opening match, where Farhan scored 89 and Sadaqat added 50.
