Pakistan Stock Exchange downturn

Overview

In mid‑July 2026 the Pakistan Stock Exchange experienced a sharp sell‑off. On 13 July the KSE‑100 index fell by more than 2,300 points (‑1.27%), with market capitalisation slipping to Rs20.290 trillion and trading volume declining modestly. By 29 July the index was still under pressure, dropping another 1,581 points (‑0.89%) to 176,043. Market capitalisation fell further to Rs19.778 trillion and ready‑market trading volume contracted sharply to 574 million shares, well below the previous day’s level. Both sessions saw a handful of gainers offset by a larger number of losers, and Cnergyico PK remained the most active stock in each trade. The continued decline highlighted sustained investor unease and reduced liquidity in the Pakistani equity market.
