Panasonic perovskite solar cell development

Overview

Panasonic Holdings has announced plans to begin full-scale mass production of its ‘ENEFACE’ glass-type perovskite solar cells in April 2029. This production timeline represents a one-year acceleration from the company’s previous 2030 target.

These next-generation cells are thin, lightweight, and flexible, allowing them to be integrated into building materials such as windows, walls, and balconies. The technology is intended to enable electricity generation on urban surfaces that were previously unsuitable for traditional silicon solar panels. Panasonic is currently utilizing inkjet coating and laser processing to apply the generation layer to large glass substrates, with an initial power generation efficiency goal of approximately 20%.
