Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery merger

Overview

Following the merger of Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery, a new entertainment conglomerate named Skydance has been formed. Under the leadership of Chairman and CEO David Ellison and co-CEO Ynon Kreiz, the merger has led to significant organizational restructuring.

At DC Studios, James Gunn and Peter Safran are expected to maintain their creative leadership roles, with reports indicating they were told to “keep doing what you’re doing” during meetings with Ellison. However, the merger has impacted other leadership positions, including the expected exits of Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group co-heads Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy.

In the publishing sector, DC Comics has been integrated into the Skydance Products & Publishing division, led by Josh Silverman. Silverman’s role involves overseeing business structure, licensing, and consumer products rather than creative editorial decisions. Meanwhile, the cinematic DC Universe continues to develop, though the Supergirl film has reportedly faced commercial challenges.
