Paraná state traffic safety initiatives

Overview

The Paraná State Traffic Department (Detran-PR) is advancing several initiatives to improve road safety and mobility within the state.

As part of the implementation of the State Traffic Safety Plan (PETRANS-PR) for the 2025–2030 period, Detran-PR scheduled the first PETRANS-PR meeting for December 1 and 2. This forum, organized with the State Health Secretariat, brings together researchers and authorities to discuss traffic policies, including pedestrian and driver profiles and the risks of platform-based transit work.

Simultaneously, the Sinaliza Paraná program is working to install over 33,000 new traffic signs across 167 municipalities between 2023 and 2027. The program has already delivered or contracted 12,973 signs and 101 informative signs, with an investment of R$ 19 million to date. Further bidding processes are underway to provide additional signage and asphalt painting to enhance urban and rural mobility.
