Overview

In July 2026 Paraná hosted two major multi‑sport gatherings in Cascavel. The 38th Paraná Youth Games ran from July 16‑19, with athletes from Tibagi competing in track and field. Shortly after, the 6th Paraná Combate took place July 22‑26, drawing more than 4,000 participants from 99 municipalities across ten combat‑sport disciplines.

Team Silva from Pato Branco captured eleven medals in junior and adult taekwondo, including a gold for Lucas Ostapiv, and added several bronzes and silvers in poomsae. The municipality’s judo squad posted its best ever haul, winning four individual medals – gold for Jhonathan Machado, silvers for Vitor Gravenhagen and Samayra Freitas, and bronze for Jean Carlos Moreira – and secured third place in the overall team championship, a first‑time achievement.

Apucarana’s athletes also expanded their success beyond wrestling. Victor França earned a silver in senior freestyle wrestling, while Elena Coutinho won the municipality’s inaugural female wrestling bronze. The city’s Kung Fu team collected seven medals (two gold, two silver, three bronze) and finished third overall in both male and female youth categories. Local officials highlighted the combined municipal and state support that provided training facilities, accommodations, and resources for the competitors.

In late July, Pato Futsal announced its roster for the 2024‑2025 Talentos LNF tournament, with the first phase staged in Umuarama, Paraná (Group A) and Blumenau, Santa Catarina (Group B) from 3 to 7 August. The team will debut on 4 August against ACBF, featuring goalkeepers Pedro Ike, John and Tércio, defenders such as Lemos and Leonardo, and pivots like Juan and Lucas Bisneto. Guided by head coach Gilson Batista, the squad aims to secure the tournament’s first title for the state of Paraná.
