PSG transfer search following Kvaratskhelia injury

Following a season-ending anterior cruciate ligament injury to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia during a Champions League match against Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain has begun seeking offensive reinforcements for the winter transfer window.

Initial efforts focused on Bayer Leverkusen’s Ibrahim Maza, a 20-year-old Algerian international viewed as a versatile option for Luis Enrique’s tactical system. Potential transfer fees for Maza were estimated at approximately €50 million, though the club also monitored other candidates such as Nico Williams, Paris Brunner, and Mathis Albert.

Subsequent reports indicate the club is also considering a move for Atlético Madrid forward Julián Álvarez. The 26-year-old Argentine international is seen as a versatile solution who can play as a central striker or on the flanks. While a deal for Álvarez could approach €100 million, the pursuit is aided by reports of strained relations between the player and Atlético Madrid supporters.

Club leadership, including Luis Enrique and Luis Campos, are currently evaluating whether to utilize a short-term medical joker or pursue long-term strategic reinforcements. In addition to Maza and Álvarez, the club is reportedly monitoring Real Madrid’s Endrick, as well as Rayan Cherki and Estêvão. While Enrique has maintained a cautious stance, stating that injuries do not automatically necessitate new signings, the club continues to explore high-profile targets to bolster attacking depth.
