Overview

Parisian swimming sites, including the Seine, Canal Saint-Martin, and Bassin de la Villette, experienced record attendance this summer. Total bathers reached 216,000 when including outdoor summer pools at four sports centers.

The Seine sites hosted 120,000 people, a 20% increase from the previous year, despite challenges such as summer rains and intermittent closures caused by fuel-oil pollution. Mayor Emmanuel Grégoire noted that these sites provided “essential relief during several heatwave episodes.” A proposal to open a new site at the Arsenal Basin in Bastille is currently under consideration.
