Partido Popular candidate preparations

The Partido Popular (PP) is organizing various political candidacies across different regions in Spain.

In Gáldar, the party has named Iván Vega, a teacher and neighborhood association president, as its candidate for the 2027 mayoral elections. The party intends to challenge the long-standing Bloque Nacionalista Rural (BNR) administration by focusing on economic development and public services.

In Galicia, the party is structuring its lists for upcoming general elections. Leadership is seeking a balance of experienced and new candidates, with final decisions subject to the approval of Alberto Núñez Feijóo. While Miguel Tellado, Francisco Conde, and Ana Vázquez were previously positioned for A Coruña, Lugo, and Ourense respectively, new confirmations have emerged. Fabiola García, the current Minister of Social Policy and Equality, will serve as the second candidate for the Congress in A Coruña, a move requiring her resignation from the regional government. Additionally, Miguel Santalices, the current President of the Parliament of Galicia, has been named the lead candidate for the Senate in Ourense, a transition that will necessitate changes within the Galician Parliament.

In Puntallana, Raquel Hernández has been named the mayoral candidate, with a platform centered on housing access, youth opportunities, local heritage, and support for elderly residents. In Fuerteventura, Esther Hernández Marrero, the former mayor of Tuineje, will lead the Senate candidacy for the November 29 general elections alongside Ignacio Solana and Gema Ibáñez. Their campaign aims to address island-specific concerns regarding infrastructure, connectivity, security, and housing.
