Payton Pritchard contract extension and role with Celtics

Overview

Boston Celtics guard Payton Pritchard signed a two-year, $44.2 million contract extension that will take effect starting in the 2028-29 season. The deal includes a mutual option for the 2029-30 season and follows a period where Pritchard achieved career highs in points, assists, and rebounds.

Following the extension, Pritchard addressed his role within the team, stating that he prioritizes his impact on the game over official designations such as starter or sixth man.
