PDIP political activities and youth engagement
Overview
The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) has conducted several initiatives focused on ideological training and youth mobilization.
In Kaliurang, the party held Pratama-level political training for 64 cadres from Yogyakarta. The sessions, led by Djarot Saiful Hidayat and Ganjar Pranowo, emphasized strengthening the ideological understanding of Pancasila and Sukarno’s teachings. Ganjar Pranowo specifically noted the need for political parties to address the aspirations of Generation Z to prepare future leaders.
In Jakarta, the party organized the Merah Muda Fest 2026 to commemorate the upcoming centenary of the Youth Pledge. The event featured a historical march, known as ‘Napak Tilas Sumpah Pemuda’, involving approximately 500 participants, including high school students. The march proceeded from the Youth Pledge Museum through historical sites, such as the Jakarta Cathedral, to Lapangan Banteng.
During the march, participants issued demands to the government regarding free education, anti-corruption efforts, and the prevention of forest and land fires. Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto used the event to convey messages from party chairperson Megawati Sukarnoputri, urging youth to master science and technology to advocate for the oppressed. The event was attended by figures including Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung and national committee chairman Denny Cagur.
