Penn State football museum exhibit opening

Overview

Penn State Athletics and the Penn State All-Sports Museum have opened the Paterno Family Football Experience Room, a permanent exhibit located within West Shore Home Field at Beaver Stadium. The exhibit celebrates more than a century of Nittany Lions football history using historic artifacts, trophies, and interactive multimedia displays.

A central component of the room is a tribute to former head coach Joe Paterno, who led the program from 1966 to 2011. The display includes a recreation of his office from the Lasch Football Building, featuring his original desk, chair, furniture, and the wooden door from his office entrance. Other items on display include personal memorabilia such as his original stationery, a lamp, and a film projector.

The project was supported by various donations, including a lead gift from an anonymous donor and contributions from alumnus Sean Mummert and Michael and Patty Kirschner. Head coach Matt Campbell noted that honoring the program’s history is a central part of his role.
