Jacksonville Jaguars defeat Philadelphia Eagles in London
Overview
The Jacksonville Jaguars defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 19-17 in their Week 5 NFL International Series matchup at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. The victory improves Jacksonville to 4-1, while the Eagles fall to 2-3, marking their first time below .500 since 2021.
The contest was defined by significant momentum shifts and roster challenges for Philadelphia. Entering the game, the Eagles faced a depleted offensive line following the retirement of Lane Johnson and the trade of Cam Jurgens, alongside injuries to Saquon Barkley and DeVonta Smith.
After the Eagles held a 14-7 halftime lead, the Jaguars mounted a comeback. Trevor Lawrence threw for 331 yards and two touchdowns, both to Parker Washington. Following a 48-yard field goal by Jake Elliott that gave the Eagles a 17-16 lead with eight seconds remaining, the Jaguars responded with a 53-yard kickoff return by Ameer Abdullah. Cam Little secured the win for Jacksonville with a 57-yard field goal as time expired.
Following the loss, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni took responsibility for the defeat, specifically citing a decision regarding the final kickoff that allowed the Jaguars to maintain favorable field position, stating, “I didn’t make the right decision and I lost us that game.” The matchup also turned physical, resulting in the ejections of Jeremiah Trotter Jr. and Bryan Thomas Jr. following an altercation at kickoff.
