Philadelphia Phillies and Zack Wheeler performance
Overview
During the final stretch of the 2026 MLB regular season, Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Zack Wheeler has achieved significant individual and team milestones.
In mid-September, Wheeler led the Phillies to a 3-0 shutout victory over the Washington Nationals, a win that helped the team maintain its second-place position in the National League Wild Card standings. Despite the victory, the team faced ongoing questions regarding bullpen reliability and offensive consistency.
By late September, Wheeler reached a major career milestone by recording his 2,000th career strikeout during a game against the Milwaukee Brewers. During that same appearance, he set a new Phillies franchise record by striking out seven consecutive batters to begin a game. Following a recovery from surgery in late 2025, Wheeler has maintained a 13-5 record with a 2.99 ERA through 26 starts in the 2026 season.
