Philippine automotive industry electrification trends
Overview
The Philippine automotive industry experienced significant growth in 2026, particularly within the electrified vehicle (xEV) sector. In July, monthly sales reached a yearly peak of approximately 42,880 units. For the first seven months of the year, xEV sales rose by 136.4 percent compared to 2025, accounting for 15.84 percent of total domestic vehicle sales.
Growth within the xEV segment was driven by hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), which comprised 54.11 percent of xEV sales, as well as substantial increases in battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs).
Specific brand performance highlighted the shift toward electrification. Jetour Auto Philippines was recognized by the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines (CAMPI) as the top PHEV seller among member brands for the first half of 2026, with the brand selling 1,891 PHEVs. In the BEV segment, VinFast led July sales, while Toyota remained the top brand in the HEV category.
