Philippines digital and AI infrastructure expansion
Overview
The Philippines is undertaking significant investments in telecommunications and digital infrastructure. Major telecommunications providers, including PLDT, Globe Telecom, and Converge ICT Solutions, have projected combined capital expenditures of approximately $2.21 billion for 2026 to strengthen 5G connectivity and fiber networks.
Building on these telecommunications investments, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has introduced the Philippine AI+ Infrastructure Masterplan (PAIIM) 2026–2033. Developed in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank, this roadmap seeks to secure an estimated $34.4 billion in public and private funding. The plan aims to expand the nation’s AI computing capacity from 50 megawatts to 1.5 gigawatts by 2033, featuring a flagship $14.65 billion public-private AI compute and data hub.
