Philippines Undas holiday travel preparations
Overview
In preparation for the Undas holiday period, Philippine authorities have initiated large-scale measures to manage an expected surge of up to 2 million travelers.
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) focused on maritime safety, with the PCG raising its alert status under ‘Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Undas 2026’ to conduct vessel inspections and patrols. To mitigate terminal overcrowding, the PPA relaunched its Online Reservation Assistance System (ORAS) to allow passengers to book travel slots in advance.
Following these maritime preparations, the government expanded its scope to include land and air travel. Executive Secretary Ralph Recto directed the Department of Transportation (DOTr), the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to ensure adequate services at airports, seaports, and bus terminals. Security measures include increased police presence and K-9 units, while agencies like the PDEA and LTFRB conduct inspections and drug testing on drivers. Additionally, the DSWD and Department of Health have prepared to provide food, water, and medical assistance in the event of transport disruptions or bad weather.
