Utility disruptions and extreme weather conditions persisted across the Balkans and surrounding regions through mid-September 2026. Electricity supply issues continued due to maintenance and technical faults. In Bulgaria, scheduled and urgent electricity maintenance caused power outages on September 11 across the Varna and Targovishte regions. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, widespread planned electricity outages were scheduled for September 11 across more than 170 streets in the Sarajevo Canton, affecting seven municipalities. Additionally, the Sarajevo Run Fest 2026 caused temporary traffic suspensions and parking restrictions in central streets. In Republika Srpska, the Ministry of Internal Affairs introduced traffic bans for heavy vehicles and the transport of explosives on several major roads to mark the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom, and the National Flag. In Montenegro, CEDIS completed work on the Bigova and Tri krsta transformer ~~stations to improve power quality, though planned maintenance in other locations resulted in temporary outages.
