Internal friction within the National Liberal Party (PNL) in Gorj, Romania, escalated from criticisms of leadership decisions to a formal change in command. Initially, university professor Dorel Chirițescu criticized PNL leader Ion Iordache, describing the exclusion of three members from the county’s Political Bureau as an ‘execution’. Following these tensions, Ion Iordache resigned from his position as Deputy. Ioan Sîrbu, a reserve general and former interim president of PNL Gorj, characterized this restructuring as a ‘new beginning’ based on unity, dialogue, and mutual respect. He stated his intention to build a united team to attract members who believe in liberal values and the Gorj region. This development follows a period of leadership changes, including the tenure of Ion Iordache, after certain party congress decisions were suspended by a court.
