Poland is accelerating its nationwide effort to eliminate asbestos waste by 2032. In mid‑July, the city of Poznań launched an additional recruitment round for its asbestos‑removal program, while the nearby municipality of Godów introduced a grant of up to 1,500 zł per tonne for roof‑level asbestos removal. These local measures aimed to speed demolition, collection, transport and safe disposal of asbestos‑containing materials. By early August, the scope of subsidies had broadened considerably. Municipalities across the country began offering grants that could cover up to 100 % of removal costs, with some households eligible for as much as 7,000 PLN. The Regional Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Toruń pledged up to 95 % of qualified expenses, capped at 760 PLN per tonne. Towns such as Gdańsk and the gmina of Koronowo set application windows from early August to the end of October 2026.
