Poland childcare subsidy program
Overview
The Polish government provides childcare support through the ‘Aktywny Rodzic’ (Active Parent) program. Under the ‘Aktywnie w żłobku’ (Active in Nursery) benefit, parents can receive monthly subsidies of up to 1,500 PLN to assist with the costs of nursery care, children's clubs, or daily caregivers.
To receive these benefits, parents must apply to the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) within two months of a child starting care. Payments are issued directly to the childcare facility and are capped at the actual cost of the stay, excluding food. Furthermore, the monthly fee for the facility must remain below a statutory limit of 2,200 PLN, which is set to remain in effect until March 31, 2027. Parents are restricted to receiving only one type of benefit from the ‘Aktywny Rodzic’ program for a single child in any given month.
