Poland drone training and infrastructure expansion

In early July, Polish universities began an international summer school focused on drone pilot training, marking the first coordinated educational effort in the country’s emerging unmanned‑air‑system sector. By the end of the month, the initiative had broadened into a multi‑stage rollout. The Podkarpackie Voivodeship signed agreements with local municipalities and the Polish Air Navigation Agency to create a regional drone monitoring network, featuring ~~"drone highways"~~ “drone highways” equipped with ADS‑B, FLARM and Remote ID. Concurrently, AGH University of Science and Technology opened the Centre of Drones AGH (CEDR AGH), a hub housing around 50 certified drones, a metrology laboratory, a mobile research base and new postgraduate courses, all intended to support research, industry and further training in Poland’s growing drone sector. In August, the scope of these infrastructure projects expanded. In the Podkarpackie region, Kolbuszowa County and the municipality of Zagórz joined as infrastructure partners for the regional surveillance network, which is funded through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. Simultaneously, development began in Lower Silesia to establish a drone competence center centered around Lubin and the Copper Basin. This Lower Silesian UAV Air Zone is expected to cover over 1,500 km², including municipalities such as Polkowice, Chocianów, and Chojnów, and will feature a field training and testing center in Osieku to support professional pilot examinations and SME development.
