Poland HGV border reservation system implementation

Overview

The Polish Ministry of Finance announced plans to implement a mandatory reservation system for heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) exiting the Schengen area through Polish borders toward Ukraine, Belarus, or Russia.

Scheduled to begin on March 1, 2027, the system will require drivers to register their planned date, time, and crossing point via an electronic platform or smartphone application. A non-refundable 20 PLN fee will be charged per reservation to prevent speculative bookings.

The regulations, expected to enter into force on February 1, 2027, will include priority reservations for specific cargo types, such as humanitarian aid, perishable food, live animals, or dangerous goods. Authorities stated that vehicles granted priority status without proper justification will be turned back.
