Poland regional tourism funding

In early July, officials from several Polish voivodeships issued a joint statement demanding a fairer share of a proposed national tourism fee. They argued that the draft system, which would allocate 80 % of revenues to local gminas and only 20 % to the Polish Tourism Organization, ignored the contributions of regional tourism bodies and called for the mechanism to be renamed and restructured for transparent, proportional distribution.

By late July, the Warmian‑Masurian region received concrete funding under separate programmes. The voivodeship marshal awarded contracts to 24 municipalities through the fifth "Blue‑Green Grants" competition, supporting projects such as tree planting, fountain construction and lake water‑circulation improvements, with total aid exceeding PLN 5 million. At the same time, the national Ministry of Sport and Tourism allocated PLN 6 million to regional operators of the Tourist Voucher scheme, granting each of four regions—including Warmian‑Masurian—PLN 1.5 million to issue electronic vouchers for overnight stays. These steps marked a shift from advocacy for equitable tourism‑tax revenue sharing to the disbursement of targeted environmental and tourism support funds.
