In late July 2026, Poland began a series of agreements aimed at bolstering both civilian safety and military capability. A cooperation pact with state oil refiner ORLEN and the State Fire Service was signed to improve protection of critical infrastructure, while a separate accord with the Air Navigation Services Agency expanded radar data sharing to better monitor airspace following Russian missile and drone activity. The Polish military has since secured several specific domestic contracts to maintain and equip its forces. The Military Economic Unit in Wejherowo contracted WZE S.A. to provide technical support and servicing for the naval NSM-CDS missile system through November 2029. Additionally, the Regional Logistics Base in Warsaw signed a 62.5 million PLN deal with Lubawa S.A. for the delivery of mine-recognition and engineering kits, including detectors and GPS units, to be supplied by late October 2026. Expanding its air defense capabilities, the Polish Armament Agency and MESKO signed a framework agreement valued at approximately 8 billion PLN for the delivery of several thousand Piorun anti-aircraft missile systems. This deal includes launchers, simulators, and logistics packages. While over 80 percent of the order is for the Polish Armed Forces, the remainder is designated for joint NATO procurement involving Latvia, Lithuania, and Norway under the European SAFE program. The agreement, involving the EDIRPA VSHORAD consortium, is designed to strengthen European defense capabilities and expand production capacity for MESKO and Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ). General Artur Kuptel, head of the Armament Agency, noted that the order involves “large thousands” of sets. Deliveries are scheduled for completion by 2030. In response to the scale of these requirements and recent security concerns, such as a fire at a drone manufacturer's warehouse in Skarżysko-Kamienna, MESKO CEO Renata Gruszczyńska announced an allocation of 300 million PLN over the next two years to improve infrastructure and security.
