Poland state vehicle auction processes

Overview

Poland has implemented mechanisms to auction vehicles seized by the state through various legal channels. Under regulations introduced in March 2024, courts can confiscate vehicles from drivers found operating under the influence of alcohol, provided they meet specific criteria such as blood alcohol levels of at least 1.5 permille or repeat offenses. These assets, ranging from older models to luxury cars, are sold through state auctions.

To streamline the recovery of tax arrears, the state has also introduced an online platform, elicytacje.mf.gov.pl. This system facilitates the sale of assets seized during enforcement proceedings or from intoxicated drivers, including passenger cars, trucks, and construction machinery. While the platform offers access to a wide variety of vehicles, authorities note that they do not assume responsibility for the technical condition or hidden defects of the items being sold.
