Police enforcement operations in Netherlands and Belgium

Authorities in the Netherlands and Belgium have conducted series of large-scale enforcement operations targeting traffic violations, illegal substances, and public safety concerns.

In late September, Dutch police and the Tax Administration focused on the Harderwijk and Zwolle regions. These operations utilized motor officers, camera surveillance, and RDW inspection stations to check vehicle technicalities, such as exhaust noise levels and tachograph compliance. The enforcement resulted in arrests for suspected drug-impaired driving and various documentation violations.

By early October, operations expanded in scope and geography. In IJsselmonde, Netherlands, police targeted weapons, drugs, and nuisance vehicles, specifically inspecting fatbikes and scooters. This operation led to the seizure of weapons, including knives and brass knuckles, and included community outreach regarding digital fraud. Simultaneously, in Leuven, Belgium, an extensive traffic enforcement action involving trainee inspectors resulted in dozens of citations for alcohol and drug violations, as well as documentation infractions.
