Police impersonation arrest in Zagreb

Overview

A 37-year-old man was arrested in Zagreb after impersonating a police officer. The suspect was observed driving a Ford with Zagreb license plates through red lights on Slavonska Avenue, specifically at the intersections of Čulinečka cesta and Ulica III. Resnik, while using blue emergency lights.

When intercepted by a patrol, he presented a badge resembling one used by the criminal police and claimed he was “rushing to an intervention”. Upon providing his authentic identification, he was charged with traffic violations.

Subsequent searches of his vehicle and residence in the Dugog Selo area led to the seizure of an arsenal of fraudulent equipment. Recovered items include two fake police IDs, a criminal police badge, two sets of LED flashers, a blue rotating light, three handheld radios, a “POLICIJA” sign, two shirts, a vest labeled “Criminal Police,” and a jacket with Ministry of the Interior markings. Authorities also recovered 34 blank traffic violation notices. The individual remains under investigation for the forgery of official documents.
