Police incidents and protests in Thessaloniki

Overview

In Thessaloniki, a police officer became the subject of an Administrative Disciplinary Investigation (EDE) after a verbal altercation with a citizen regarding parking fines. During the dispute, the officer reportedly discarded service equipment, including a service pistol, baton, and bulletproof vest, on the side of the road.

Later, the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) condemned the government following a police intervention during an anti-fascist gathering in the same city. Riot police used tear gas to disperse protesters demonstrating against an event involving former Golden Dawn official Ilias Kasidiaris. The KKE demanded the release of two individuals detained during the incident.
