Police life-saving interventions for infants
Overview
Police officers in Argentina and Paraguay have performed successful life-saving first aid on infants in separate incidents.
In Corrientes, Argentina, officers from the Motorized Immediate Response Group No. 4 resuscitated a one-year-old girl who had stopped breathing. Following cardiopulmonary resuscitation and airway clearance maneuvers, the child regained consciousness while being transported to a pediatric hospital.
Subsequent incidents in Recreo, Argentina, and Capiibary, Paraguay, saw officers intervene when infants stopped breathing. In Argentina, officers transported a baby under ‘red code’ to a hospital, where the child stabilized. In Paraguay, officers performed maneuvers on a 9-month-old, who began breathing after approximately 40 seconds and was later confirmed to be in good condition by medical staff.
