Overview

Police in Uttar Pradesh conducted several operations across Ghaziabad, Muzaffarnagar, and Meerut resulting in the arrest of multiple wanted individuals.

In Ghaziabad, a joint operation by the Crime Branch and Link Road police led to the arrest of a criminal known as ‘Nagin’ (identified as Farman), who carried a 50,000 rupee bounty. According to ACP Sahibabad Amit Saxena, the team intercepted a white vehicle without license plates at the Suryanagar intersection. After the suspect refused to stop, he opened fire on officers and fled into the Radhakunj area. When the vehicle reached a dead end, the suspect exited and fired at the police team with intent to kill. In the ensuing retaliatory fire for self-defence, Farman sustained gunshot wounds to both legs. He faces approximately 100 criminal cases, including robbery, theft, attempted murder, and rape, as well as multiple instances under the Gangsters Act. Authorities recovered a .315 bore pistol and ammunition at the scene.

In Muzaffarnagar, police engaged in two separate encounters. One resulted in the arrest of a suspect wanted for the rape of a minor and religious conversion, while a second encounter led to the arrest of an individual wanted in a cattle slaughter case. In Meerut, police apprehended a suspect involved in a firing incident following a shootout.
