Overview
In mid-August 2026, two separate vehicle collisions involving law enforcement were reported in the Midwest.
In Bolingbrook, Illinois, an officer sustained non-life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle during an attempted arrest on South Weber Road. The suspect fled, leading to a pursuit that ended in Plainfield when the vehicle collided with another car. Two individuals were taken into custody.
In Cumberland, Indiana, a police officer and a patrol dog sustained minor injuries when a vehicle traveling the wrong way on a one-way street ran a red light and struck the rear of a patrol car. The driver was arrested on preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
