Polish defence investment incentives

In late July, the Kamiennogórska Special Economic Zone approved a 36 million zł grant for Inter‑Global, a Polish chemicals producer, to expand and modernise its facilities. The aid, covering up to 35 % of qualified costs, was part of a broader SEZ programme that also highlighted tax‑exempt income and project assistance for firms in defence, security and dual‑use technologies, with promotion slated for the MSPO 2026 defence exhibition.

A few days later, the Polish government broadened its support strategy. mBank’s chief executive urged the creation of a tax‑exemption catalogue to relieve banks from the bank tax when financing defence projects, aiming to lower credit costs for arms manufacturers. Finance Minister Andrzej Domański announced up to 130 million zł in income‑tax relief for Nitroerg’s new explosives plant, underscoring a policy push to build a domestic value chain for defence, space and new‑technology sectors and to stimulate the Silesian economy.

Together, the snapshots show a rapid escalation from targeted SEZ grants to wider fiscal incentives and financing reforms designed to accelerate Poland’s defence industrial base.
