Polish railway worker assault incidents

Overview

In late October 2026, two separate incidents of violence against railway staff were reported in Poland.

On October 26, a 49-year-old man was arrested at Wrocław Główny station after allegedly assaulting a POLREGIO train manager during a ticket inspection. The victim sustained facial injuries, including a broken nose and lost teeth. The suspect was detained by police and faces charges of causing bodily harm and influencing official activities.

Separately, PKP Intercity extended an internal investigation into an October 20 incident on a Pendolino train traveling from Warsaw to Wrocław. The company is investigating allegations that an executive director for commercial affairs physically assaulted a train manager and used profanity toward staff. The altercation caused the train to stop, forcing approximately 400 passengers to transfer to other services. While video footage was presented to journalists, the company stated it does not clearly show aggressive behavior. As of late October, the investigation continues as witnesses have yet to provide statements.
