Poland’s retail market expanded through July 2026, with total sales up approximately 5% YoY. Grocery sales rose 3.4% while volume grew only 0.6%, maintaining tight margins. Private-label products now account for roughly 40% of grocery value and 23.5% of the FMCG market. Auchan Polska reported 2025 revenue of 10.793 bn zł with a net profit of 99.6 mn zł, noting that nearly 90% of its stock is sourced from Polish manufacturers. E-commerce continues to drive sector growth, with the market projected to grow 9% annually through 2029. In the first half of 2026, approximately 1,200 new online stores were added, bringing the total number of Polish e-shops close to 75,000. Projections suggest this figure could reach 100,000 by the end of the decade. A notable performer is Empik.com, whose marketplace expanded to over 20 million products. In 2025, the Empik Marketplace saw its Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) exceed 1 billion PLN, a 40 percent year-over-year increase, driven by categories such as gaming, cosmetics, electronics, and toys. Logistics demand is bolstered by Poland’s strategic location and the upcoming 2028 EU Customs Data Hub. The courier, express, and parcel (KEP) market is expanding rapidly due to the e-commerce surge; the number of KEP companies increased by nearly 400 in the first half of 2026, totaling approximately 10,800 entities. This fragmented market, largely composed of small subcontractors, accounts for about 18 percent of all KEP companies in the EU. In 2025, operators processed approximately 1.4 billion shipments, a 14 percent increase from the previous year. However, efficiency remains a challenge, as nearly 30.7% of domestic transport trips are made without cargo. By August 2026, Poland is increasingly recognized as a critical hub for European logistics and warehouse automation.
