In late July 2026 former prime minister Mateusz Morawiecki left the ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party and registered the Rozwój Plus parliamentary club, gathering about 40 MPs, three MEPs and one senator. The break was described as the biggest crisis in PiS’s 25‑year history, with early Early polls showing showed Rozwój Plus at roughly 7 % and PiS falling to around 17 % ahead of the 2027 election.
