Political violence in Venice involving influencers

On September 12, a physical altercation occurred near Campo San Bartolomio in Venice involving political activists from Alleanza Verdi e Sinistra (Avs) and the Morion social center, and a group of far-right influencers and content creators. The group of influencers included individuals identified as ‘JollyTime’ and Tom van den Heuvel.

Reports indicate the confrontation involved verbal insults, pepper spray, punches, and kicks. While ‘JollyTime’ claimed the group acted in self-defense, video evidence and witness accounts suggest the dispute escalated into violence. The incident resulted in several hospitalizations, including a municipal councilor, with total medical prognoses reaching 106 days.

In response to the violence, activists from the Morion social center announced a demonstration scheduled for September 19 at Venezia Santa Lucia station. Local leaders have condemned the actions, with some characterizing the event as ‘squadrismo 2.0’. Police investigations are ongoing, utilizing surveillance footage to determine criminal measures and identify all participants.
