Portugal national anti-corruption education initiative
Overview
The Portuguese government has launched the ‘Days of Integrity and Anti-Corruption’ initiative, a national program coordinated by the Ministries of Education and Justice alongside the National Anti-Corruption Mechanism (MENAC). The program aims to reach approximately 40,000 students in over 250 schools to promote ethics, transparency, and the prevention of corruption.
Prime Minister Luís Montenegro participated in the launch by visiting a school in Espinho. The initiative utilizes over 200 volunteer speakers, including legal experts and government officials, and provides online pedagogical materials to support teachers. Following the national launch, the Azores Government implemented the program locally, conducting awareness sessions for students in São Miguel and Corvo focused on civic responsibility and the public interest.
