Portugal police theft and assault arrests

In early July, Portuguese authorities detained an 83‑year‑old man in Vila Franca de Xira after he assaulted a police officer, while a separate case in Évora saw a 55‑year‑old man and a 27‑year‑old woman charged with a series of ten thefts, property damage and illegal weapon possession spanning May 2025 to February 2026.

Later in July, the Public Security Police (PSP) conducted two further operations in the Lisbon area. In Amadora, a 21‑year‑old was arrested after a suspected drug transaction yielded enough hashish for roughly 326 doses and a small amount of cash. In central Lisbon’s Baixa district, a 30‑year‑old suspect was detained for at least 13 qualified thefts of electronics and valuable art pieces, with losses estimated at over €30,000.

Both snapshots illustrate an ongoing pattern of Portuguese police actions targeting theft rings, violent assaults on officers, and drug‑related offenses across multiple municipalities.
