They have also called for a dynamic pricing model and an update to the non-urgent patient transport price table.

More recently, the Portuguese League of Firefighters (LBP) and the Lisbon District Firefighters Federation (FBDL) have warned that rising fuel prices are “strangling” the financial sustainability of humanitarian fire associations. LBP President António Nunes reported that fuel expenses have increased by approximately 40%, creating significant treasury problems, particularly regarding non-urgent patient transport. The FBDL described the situation as “unsustainable and unacceptable,” noting that state funding does not keep pace with rising costs for fuel, energy, vehicle maintenance, equipment, and insurance. To alleviate immediate strain, the LBP has requested that the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection (ANEPC) immediately process fuel cost reimbursements for June, July, and August.
