Presidential pardon of Elor Azaria

Overview

Israeli President Isaac Herzog has issued a pardon to Elor Azaria, a former IDF combat medic, to shorten the time required to expunge his criminal record. Azaria was convicted of manslaughter in 2017 for the 2016 shooting of Abdel Fattah al-Sharif, a wounded Palestinian man in Hebron, while the victim lay incapacitated on the ground.
