PRO party political and economic positioning in Argentina

Overview

The PRO party is engaging in efforts to strengthen its political position and influence within Argentina through international diplomacy and domestic mobilization.

In mid-September, Buenos Aires Chief of Government Jorge Macri completed a mission to the United States to seek investment and promote a political alliance between the PRO and La Libertad Avanza (LLA) ahead of the 2027 elections. The delegation met with officials at the White House, the U.S. State Department, and various business councils to discuss trade and infrastructure financing.

By late September, former President Mauricio Macri held a regional PRO summit in Jujuy to bolster the party’s presence in northern provinces. While Macri expressed support for President Javier Milei’s legislative efforts to reduce the state, he conditioned this support on the government addressing inflation, country risk, and housing issues. The event was reportedly marked by an unusually low turnout, prompting internal party discussions regarding mobilization capabilities amidst competition from other political factions.
