The course is characterized by high technical difficulty, featuring 51 mountain climbs and an estimated 58,000 to 59,000 meters of vertical gain. Tadej Pogačar enters as the heavy favorite, seeking to complete the Triple Crown and join the exclusive group of riders who have won all three Grand Tours. Other major contenders for the general classification include Primož Roglič, Felix Gall, Mattias Skjelmose, Richard Carapaz, Wout van Aert, and João Almeida. Movistar Team has confirmed a focus on Enric Mas and Cian Uijtdebroeks, while noting the absence of Nairo Quintana.
