Promotion of Marvel series VisionQuest
Overview
Actor Paul Bettany has been promoting the upcoming Disney+ series ‘VisionQuest’, which explores the character Vision’s search for identity and his navigation of AI personas following his resurrection in ‘WandaVision’. The series, developed alongside showrunner Terry Matalas, is set to premiere on October 14, 2026, and features the return of James Spader as Ultron.
In media appearances, Bettany has shared lighthearted anecdotes about his family, noting that his children jokingly refer to his character as ‘The Worst Avenger’. He has also shared personal reflections on fatherhood and masculinity, noting how the show’s themes resonate with his own life. Regarding his eldest child, who is not his biological son, Bettany emphasized that biological connection does not define their relationship, stating, ‘He is my son. He belongs to me. That is the truth.’
In the series, Vision goes into hiding to navigate various AI personas while being pursued by bounty hunters and searching for his son. The production features a cast including Ruaridh Mollica, Todd Stashwick, and T’Nia Miller. Additionally, Bettany has offered praise for his Marvel Cinematic Universe colleagues, describing Robert Downey Jr.’s performance in ‘Avengers: Endgame’ as “extraordinary” and “Oscar-worthy”, while also calling Scarlett Johansson’s performance in the same film “heartbreaking and poignant”.
