Proofpoint AI security expansion and product development

Cybersecurity firm Proofpoint is expanding its global footprint and technological capabilities, specifically focusing on artificial intelligence.

In August 2026, the company announced operational expansions in India and Japan. In India, Proofpoint established an AI Security Engineering Centre of Excellence in Hyderabad with plans to hire over 200 engineers, while also opening a new office in Delhi. In Japan, the firm entered a partnership with AI Security Co., Ltd. to provide services aimed at mitigating risks such as ‘shadow AI’ and protecting sensitive information within AI models.

By September 2026, Proofpoint shifted focus toward product development with the announcement of its SOC Analyst Agent. Powered by OpenAI Daybreak models, this agentic AI tool is designed to assist security teams by using natural language to investigate threats and automate recurring analysis. Currently in private preview, the tool aims to reduce manual workloads by connecting security signals across various products, though the company noted that ‘consequential remediation decisions remain in human hands.’
