Reports initially surfaced regarding a major leisure project in the Cergy-Pontoise region near Paris, proposed by the Saudi Arabian Qiddiya Investment Company. The project, potentially involving several billion euros in investment and the creation of up to 22,000 jobs, was suggested to include a theme park dedicated to the ‘Dragon Ball’ franchise at the former Mirapolis site. However, Toei Animation subsequently issued a statement denying these reports, clarifying that neither the company nor has since officially denied granting any other rights holders have granted licenses for a Dragon Ball-themed park in France. The animation studio noted clarified that the confusion stemmed from the use of promotional concept images used in media reports were art and videos during an announcement involving French President Emmanuel Macron and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
