Public service protests in Falcón, Venezuela

Overview

Residents in Falcón state, Venezuela, initiated road blockades on the Morón-Coro highway to protest persistent electricity shortages and power outages. Protesters used the slogan “¡No hay luz, no hay paso!” (No light, no passage!) to demand action from the state electricity company, Corpoelec, citing damage to appliances, spoiled food, and halted economic activity.

By the third consecutive day of demonstrations, the protests expanded to include grievances regarding a prolonged shortage of potable water. In response, Falcón State Police anti-riot units attempted to forcibly disperse the crowds in the El Yabo sector using shields.
