Public transport disruptions and upgrades in Serbia and HR
Overview
Public transport services in Serbia and Croatia continue to face disruptions due to ongoing infrastructure projects and local events.
In Belgrade, Jovana Mikića Street is scheduled for a total traffic suspension starting August 24 to facilitate the construction of a surface roundabout at the intersection of Majšanski put, Jovana Cvijića, and Jovana Mikića. This closure is expected to last until November 7, with vehicles rerouted through 51. divizije, Partizanskih baza, and Kireška.
Regarding the Belgrade metro project, City Manager Miroslav Čučković confirmed that traffic suspensions on Despota Stefana Boulevard will be delayed until after the spring due to the discovery of unrecorded underground installations. Work will instead focus on tunnel excavation preparation and metro entrance walls to avoid interfering with the heating season. Future construction is expected to involve significant changes near Staklenci and the expansion of Dunavska Street to accommodate the relocation of the Bajlonijeva market during the development of the Skadarlija station.
Additionally, the ‘Beogradsko leto’ manifestation and planned roadworks will cause temporary disruptions. Between the afternoon of August 21 and the early morning of August 23, traffic will be suspended in parts of Nikola Tesla Boulevard and Ušće Street. Bus lines 15, 84, 704, 706, and 707 will divert via Mihajla Pupina Boulevard and Trešnjinog cveta Street, while lines 9A and 60 will also undergo route adjustments. Certain stops, including ‘Ušće’, ‘Palata Srbija’, and ‘Museum of Contemporary Art’, will be temporarily removed.
In Croatia, Zagreb continues to experience transit changes, including ongoing repairs on Lipnička cesta and recent route alterations for line 109.
