Punjab state administration activities

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has initiated several state-level measures and diplomatic engagements.

Initially, the state government expanded a scheme to provide free electricity to Gau Shalas, increasing the number of participating institutions from 366 to 518 to support stray cattle management and animal welfare.

Subsequently, Mann met with Union Minister Manohar Lal to discuss Punjab's development, focusing on the financial stability of electricity distribution companies and securing additional power for farmers during the paddy transplantation season.

Regarding judicial matters, Mann formally requested Governor Gulab Chand Kataria to grant a 10-day parole to prisoner Jagtar Singh Hawara on humanitarian grounds, citing the deteriorating health of Hawara's elderly mother. Hawara was convicted for his role in the 1995 assassination of former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh. This request follows a Punjab and Haryana High Court directive to consider Hawara's parole application. AAP MP Malvinder Singh Kang has expressed support for the appeal, characterizing it as a matter of compassion rather than politics.
